Dissecting my bookshelf: from the top

Strategists are well known as the readers of the advertising world. So what am I reading? Here’s a snapshot of the top of my bookshelf with notes on a few of my favorites. I’ll release a few of these over the next weeks (or months…depends on what’s happening) to share some new books I’m reading.

Caveat: As any reader can attest, I may not have gotten through all of these that sit on my shelf… but they are on my list (or bookshelf more accurately).

Must read

The Book of Delights

A collection of poems each day that focus on that day’s delight. The writing style threw me a little (used to the orderly approach of non-fiction) but found it a true delight.

Trick Mirror

Want to know how a particularly brilliant millennial feels about our world? Dive in.

Think Again

The power of rethinking, and why questioning your beliefs is good - not bad. Also read Originals by Adam Grant if you haven’t already.

Brain Surfing

A strategist’s quest to learn from strategists all over the world by living in their homes. Troves of fascinating thoughts from some advertising greats.

Sapiens

Wondering about how we all came to be? Harari gives the most interesting history lesson you’ll ever read. It takes a while so be patient! It’s worth it.
